Dangote Group is exploring the possibility of establishing industrial investments in Egypt as part of its wider expansion strategy across Africa. The move could strengthen economic cooperation between Nigeria and Egypt, two of the continent’s largest economies.
Discussions around the proposed expansion followed a visit to the Dangote Industries complex in Lagos by an Egyptian delegation led by the country’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Dr. Mohamed Saleh. The meeting brought together the delegation and senior executives of Dangote Group to examine potential investment partnerships, industrial cooperation and opportunities to increase production capacity in key sectors.
Representatives of Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and top executives from its oil and petrochemical industry were also part of the delegation. Their engagement focused on identifying areas where businesses from both countries could establish mutually beneficial ventures by drawing on their respective economic and industrial strengths.
The development comes as Dangote Group advances its Vision 2030 expansion agenda, with Egypt emerging as a potential location for future investments. It also reflects growing interest in extending Nigeria’s industrial capabilities to other parts of the continent.

For Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, the engagement represents an important step towards greater economic integration among African countries. He described the visit as evidence of the Group’s commitment to supporting industrialisation and economic development through investments across the continent.
Dangote stated that African businesses must look beyond their domestic markets and invest in other parts of the continent to accelerate industrial growth. He added that the Group was proud to be an African enterprise developing industries that create value for the continent.
He further explained that the visit allowed the Egyptian delegation to assess the Group’s industrial achievements and consider areas of cooperation that could strengthen production capabilities in both countries. According to him, the discussions form part of broader efforts to build partnerships among African businesses and create opportunities for sustainable industrial growth.
Meanwhile, Saleh said the delegation’s objective was to convert existing diplomatic and business relations between Nigeria and Egypt into practical investment opportunities and industrial partnerships.
He linked the visit to previous engagements involving Dangote Group at the Alamein Economic Conference and other international investment forums hosted by Egypt.
Egypt, he noted, was particularly interested in understanding the Group’s operations in refining, petrochemicals, fertiliser production and related manufacturing sectors as part of efforts to identify possible areas of collaboration.
Expressing his impression of the facilities, Saleh said the scale of operations across the Group’s refining, petrochemical and fertiliser businesses demonstrated opportunities for both countries to work together. He stressed that the partnership would focus on expanding industrial capacity and creating long-term economic value.
The minister also emphasised the importance of private-sector participation in strengthening economic relations between Nigeria and Egypt. He maintained that businesses in both countries could increase industrial production, attract investment and promote sustainable growth by sharing experiences and combining their strengths.
