Tinubu returns to Abuja following a state visit to Turkey.

President Tinubu has returned to Abuja following high-level talks in Turkey on security, defense cooperation, and expanding commercial ties.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Abuja on Saturday evening, having completed a state visit to the Republic of Turkey.

Nigeria Air Force One landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport’s presidential wing around 8:55 p.m. Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory; Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy; and Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, greeted him upon his arrival.

President Tinubu’s visit to Ankara included a number of high-level diplomatic and strategic meetings aimed at boosting Nigeria’s bilateral relations with Turkey.

During the tour, the President held bilateral conversations with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as well as meetings with senior government officials and defense sector representatives.

The interactions highlighted Nigeria’s increased diplomatic push, with important outcomes including Turkey’s restated commitment to deepen collaboration with Nigeria in security, military training, and intelligence sharing, notably in support of Nigeria’s counter-insurgency efforts.

Both countries also reaffirmed their commitment to expanding economic cooperation, with a common goal of generating a $5 billion trade volume, indicating increased commercial and investment linkages.

President Tinubu thanked the Turkish government for its willingness to collaborate, stating that conversations centered on counter-terrorism, economic growth, and combined efforts to fight forces endangering regional stability.
