Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, representing Oyo South Senatorial District, has reaffirmed his commitment to fostering unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State as preparations gather momentum ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking during the “A Day with BSA” interactive session organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, in Ibadan, the senator said reconciliation efforts were ongoing to strengthen the party and position it for victory in the next governorship poll.
According to Alli, discussions with aggrieved party members and fellow governorship aspirants have been constructive, expressing confidence that the APC would emerge more united as consultations continue across the state.
The lawmaker stressed that unity remained the party’s greatest asset, noting that collective interest must take precedence over personal ambition if the APC is to reclaim power in Oyo State.
He also assured party faithful that efforts to resolve internal differences would continue through dialogue, mutual respect and inclusive leadership, adding that a united APC would be better positioned to deliver effective governance and development to the people of the state.
However, the senator’s remarks have drawn reactions from some stakeholders within the party. A group of six APC governorship aspirants subsequently maintained that while reconciliation efforts were welcome, discussions were still ongoing and no consensus had yet been reached regarding the party’s 2027 governorship race.
Despite the differing views, political observers believe the reconciliation initiative reflects growing efforts by party leaders to consolidate the APC ahead of the forthcoming electoral season.
Senator Alli reiterated his commitment to working with all stakeholders to build a stronger and more cohesive party, expressing optimism that continued dialogue would enhance unity and improve the APC’s chances in future elections.
