The Chief Executive Officer of Coronation Registrars Limited, Oluseyi Owoturo, has stressed that purposeful innovation is critical to the sustainable growth and expansion of Nigeria’s capital market.
Owoturo said innovation must be focused on addressing operational challenges, improving efficiency and enhancing the experience of investors and other participants in the market.
He made the remarks following Coronation Registrars’ recognition with three international awards in 2026, honours which the company said reflect its efforts to strengthen shareholder services, capital market administration and registrar operations through innovation and technology.
The company received two awards at the Global Economics Awards, emerging as Most Innovative Registrar for Unclaimed Dividend Resolution and Leading Registrars for Capital Market Services.

It also received the Gazet International Annual Award for Excellence in Shareholder Services and Capital Market Administration – Nigeria 2026.
Reacting to the recognitions, Owoturo said they demonstrated the company’s commitment to transforming shareholder services through innovation, operational excellence and a better understanding of the changing needs of its clients.
He noted that every interaction with shareholders and issuers should contribute to building trust, simplifying processes and creating lasting value across the capital market ecosystem.
Coronation Registrars, a subsidiary of Coronation Group, has in recent years expanded its technology-enabled service model across key areas of registrar operations, including dividend administration, corporate actions management, shareholder data management and digital platforms designed to make it easier for investors to access and manage their holdings.
The recognition for unclaimed dividend resolution is particularly significant given the long-standing challenge of unclaimed dividends within Nigeria’s capital market. Through technology-driven solutions, the company has sought to make dividend recovery more accessible, transparent and efficient for shareholders.
The company’s recognition for capital market services also highlights its role in supporting corporate issuers with registrar operations, stakeholder management, compliance and market engagement.
Owoturo maintained that technology-led solutions would remain essential to building confidence in the capital market while improving efficiency and creating sustainable value for both corporate issuers and retail investors.
The company said it would continue to deepen its digital transformation strategy, strengthen its support for corporate governance and align its infrastructure with evolving developments within Nigeria’s financial ecosystem.
The latest recognitions come at a time when capital market operators are increasingly turning to technology to modernise traditional post-trade processes, improve investor participation and address operational gaps.
For investors, the continued development of digital platforms and technology-enabled registrar services is expected to simplify access to information and services, while helping issuers manage corporate actions and shareholder relationships more efficiently.
The three international awards therefore underscore Coronation Registrars’ growing focus on innovation and service delivery, as the company seeks to contribute to a more efficient, investor-friendly and technology-driven Nigerian capital market.
